As we go round and round yet again about the OD issue,I am becoming convinced that what would serve us better instead of a 5spd tranny would be an OD unit to bolt to the output shaft side of the tranny that takes the place of the bearing cone.
My reason for this is that we need our original tranny w/PTO and T-case lever mounting.Nothing is changed except at the output bearing cone,no fabricating or moving of anything.Besides,we only need it in 2wd. This would also give us 8 forward gears and 2 reverse gears in 2wd.It would be a simple unit with only 1:1 and O/D.I believe this would also solve the eng.-transfercase rpm noise problem. Now,if we could sell the makers of the OD units on the idea.I can remember a time when we all wished someone would reproduce the 4:89 ring and pinion gearsets and finally they did.Of course they wanted a certain number of orders before they would start but hey,I believe we could line up enough folks for them to start work.
