I am the one who ended up with the Leadville fire department Power Wagon, which turned out to be a 1952. It had 9,000 miles on it by the time I had it shipped to Michigan in 1994. I first saw the truck while recovering from an injured wrist while snowboarding in Colorado in 1990. When I inquired about the vehicle they said join the list unitl I offered $3,500. The offer did not get me the vehicle but Alex Halcutt (fire chief) said I was the first one who offered anywhere near what he thought it was worth. I tried for two years to get the truck but they had no title because it had been donated by the forest service sometime in the 1950's and the paperwork was lost. Apparently it took the effort of a local sheriff to go to Denver and chase down the appropriate signatures to be able to sell the power wagon. The sheriff became the new owner for his troubles. I reenter the picture while reading a Hemming Motor News in September of 1994. I noticed an ad for a Power Wagon in CO that had under 9,000 miles and was original. I thought maybe it was that old truck I was after so I called and sure enough it was. Dave Brown from wyoming transported it to Michigan for me. It has been a very reliable PW and currently has 10,350 miles on it.
