According to John Zentmyer's manual, "Power Trains and Interchanges" for Dodge 4x4's, the transmissions up to 1955 were all non-synchro types. This book also goes on to say that the later transmission, NP420, which was synchronized, was the first to be given a model number. So I take this to mean that yours does not really have a model number (that we know of).

Apparently there were two non-syncho tranny's used prior to the arrival of the synchro tranny. The earlier type has a drain plug that sits at a 30-degree angle from the horizontal, while the later one has a drain plug that sticks straight out horizontally.

I'm sure some of the suppliers listed in the "Power Wagon Home" page can get you the parts you need.

I believe from previous postings, that you would probably order parts based upon the number C88481 (which I think is a casting number).

Good luck,

Matt

P.S. I really like what your P15-D24.com web site. There's so much good info there.
