About a year ago my latch was also broken, I didn't get around to fixing it because it caught most of the time. Well I was in the mountains backing down of some rocks, when I came down my door flew open into the embancment of the road. It caught while I was still in reverse and bent the hinges while, screwing up my door. I stuck a broom handle in the hole runing lengthwise at the very top of the bed. This kept my door closed very securly but I still have to get in and out the passenger side as I have just recently found another door. Big mess and a big pain, but it is all kind of funny in a wierd way.
