I've never seen a hole burned in a piston from unleaded fuel. I have seen it from a bad timing advance.

The truck engines often used sodium filled valves. These are resistant to valve seat recession. That was what everybody worries about with unleaded fuel in a leaded engine. I tried lead additives in the past but never saw any improvement. Under normal use, it has never made any difference. If you were to run the truck hard all the time, as a contractor would with his regular work vehicle, it might help. However, normal use doesn't really need it. Just make sure your timing is set right and enjoy the truck.
