Have you sampled the liquid to see if it is brake fluid or 80-90 wt oil? This is the first step! It could be either a wheel cylinder failure or a blown grease seal!
If it is the grease seal, it may have failed due to pressure build up in the axle housing. There is a vent built into the bolt that holds the brake line dist. block on to of the axle housing. You can clean this vent by unscrewing it from the housing. This will not effect the brakes. Make sure the threaded hole is cleaned out too. (with a piece of wire or drill bit run through it by hand)
Brake wheel cylinders are most common as an 'instant' failure or over nite thing! The rubber inside them gets old & brittle or can swell and self destruct (i petroleum is inside the brake system) The best thing to do is take the brake drum off and actually see just what is going on! Good luck! Happy holidays!
