OT front axle gurus question

I have learned from this forum that the 94 and up Dodge 4x4 front axles are all ball joints. they fail regularly and nobody likes them and the older king pin style is a much better design, so my question is does Ford and GM use ball joint set up and are they having just as many problems as the Dodge axles? and are they basically using the same ball joint parts numbers?
