I have a lockrite in the rear and a ARB front. When I first installed the lockright I loved it and I didn't notice any of the bad traits I hear about them, however after about a year of hard four wheeling it became much more noticable and I decided it was not unlocking anymore. In the rear despite all the advice against it I have found no disadvantage to a locker that doesn't unlock and I believe a welded axle is fine or a spool is even better. This is just my opinion and my truck doesn't ever exceed 45 mph. Anyway after I broke an axle shaft I pulled the carrier and found the pins that align the two sides of the lockright were broken. I had another carrier with a new lockrite that I used and the old one is still on the bench and the new one lasted about 6 months before the pins broke. Worse yet I believe typically the pins get wedged between the two lockrite sides and force the unit into constant lock but mine must have fallen out because now sometime when I am offroad only the right spins and sometime only the left spins and sometime both do. I am not talking about like an open diff, when one spins it is locked and the other is like a broken axle shaft. I have since heard that the center spacing (between the two lock right pieces sorry I don't know the name)is critical which is not in the install directions and that you may need to add shims until that is perfect. I don't remember what the spacing is but I heard this from Mark here in MO and he has never had a problem with a lock rite.
