Franz makes a good point about making sure that the site gets tested and decontaminated. Welding on galvanized, cadmium plated, melting zinc and lead can give off nasty fumes in very small quantities. I'm one of those that now wears a welding mask when doing that stuff. Hope you'll be ok without any long term side effects. Zinc doesn't kill the moss on your roof for nothing...
