I have been self-employed for 50 years. Nothing like not having "the man" to deal with. It hasn't been a smooth ride. Lots of years of not enough earnings, NO unemployment bennys, tough to set money aside in the building business in a seasonal area, but I wouldn't trade it for the other way, even if I could.
