Steve is correct. 8V is the way to go.
Brighter lights better cranking.
Minor Voltage Regulator tweaking "may" be needed.
If your by yourself leave everything off and connect the cables for a minute or so no more.
Remove and try to start.
You will be surprised how much surface charge the short minute will do.
And Always hook up the dead battery first then the good one using the ground jumper last.
