I've had a lot of their "backordered" military surplus canceled on me, so we'll see what we get. I suspect that they are a "storefront" for other dealers (sort of like Amazon.com, but better hidden) and some of their dealers put items in the catalog that they don't actually have in stock, intending to go buy them if there is enough interest. Otherwise, why would something be "backordered" from the first day they have it for sale? They never had it and they're going to wait until they accumulate a big enough order to go buy them. I've even seen them cancel my backorders, after waiting months, and then 6 months later the item is back in the catalog at a higher price. They've been stringing me along on an ammo order for over a year now, asking me for confirmation about whether I want to keep it on order, but I think they just want to sell it at today's higher price rather than the cheaper price when I ordered it.

Sportsmans Guide is good for what they're good for, but they have their sleazy side too. The good thing is they don't hassle much with returns. By the way, the "reviews" they post are by invitation only, and they're filtered before they post them. They will randomly send me a questionnaire and ask for my feedback. If I write something nice, they might included it on their website. If I write something critical they never do.
