Sounds like one or both large O rings in the fluid reservoir is leaking allowing pressure to purge the oil out.
Pitting/Rust is a concern in the O ring area.
You can use a little silicone to help seal the ring.
Proper fluid level is 1 1/2 " from the fill hole with the lift cylinder pushed all the way down.
