I haven't owned an M37 in 20 years, but i recall extra dimples in the crossmember, directly ahead of the mount. The Canadian M37s came with the longer block.

Could you hole saw bigger holes, and use rubber mounts there, then, near the water pump, leave that rubber mount out? Adjust the new wide rubber mounts to attain the proper drive line angle? But that wouldn't allow for much frame flex.
