Steve, the problem child is the 318/360 Hydraulic Bell. Going out on a limb here, but to my knowledge Chrysler Production never coupled a NP-420 to a 318/360 Hydraulic Bell. When the 318/360's hit the trucks, the NP-435 was the new tranny on the block. Thus the hydraulic bell was designed to provide clearance with PTO's when mounted on 318/360's.
