Nice trucks. I then to like them more stock but my WC53 is a restomod as a lot was missing when I got it. However, I find it odd that a lot of people believe that these trucks are not capable in today's world. The first thing they want to do is slap modern running gear, steering and etc or a whole "new" frame on them. My WC53 with original axles, steering and suspension along with a NP200 transfer case, 4.89:1 gears and an ARB in the rear and a 327 small block (just under 200 HP to the rear wheels at 5,000' on a dyno) will cruise at 70 to 75 all day. I put disk brakes up front with a hydroboost system to slow her down. I never have balanced the combat wheels with Michelin's and do not have any vibrations and it tracks very well down the road. Well enough that I can take my hands off the wheel and she will go straight for a very long time. I will admit that those Michelins make a lot of noise. People are surprised how well it rides with the original suspension including the swing arm shocks.

Old Iron yes but very capable. By today's standards they were originally under powered and very poor brakes. Those are simple to resolve if you wish. A good rebuild of the trans, transfer case, axles, steering and suspension will do wonders. Parts wear after 50 or 60 years but can be brought back very nicely. My 51 ffPW is stock and is very tight as everything has been gone through. It will do 50 or 55 and is dog slow up hills but mechanically very solid. There are no plans to "solve" the under power "problem".
