Yes check the timing and the position of the spark plug wires. Also check the plug condition. If there is a wet plug it will tell you that it is not firing well. Check for cracked plugs also. If your plug wires still got through the metal routing tube on the engine, pull them out and check the insulation to see if you are shorting out any place.
