I once watched a guy trying to warm up his car with a camp fire. I think I was about 18 and had taken my first girlfriend up to Denny Creek on the way to Snoqualamie pass. There were a lot of people up there enjoying the snow. It was unusually cold for Western Washington, about 15 degrees. At the end of the day as we were heading out there was a guy laying in the snow under his car trying to build a fire under the engine with a pile of tree branches. I should have stopped to give him a hand but I guess I had other things on my mind. I always kind of wondered how that turned out. It wouldn't take much of a bonfire to burn through the fuel line where it goes into the pump, and then he'd have plenty of heat, but still no starting.
