Bought a '49 ffpw a couple of months ago. When I bought it I fully intended to do a chassis swap to a later model dodge. This is the first power wagon I've owned but far from my first "project" car. Usually I'm a hot rod guy and don't worry about originality or numbers. I have restored a couple of cars that I thought were too good to be hot rodded ('67 Camaro conv., '31 ford roadster) but usually I just haul the drivetrain to the swap meet and put in what I want.

After dragging my new gem home and getting it running I'm having second thoughts about the direction to go, after lurking on this forum for the past year or so it seems you boys have plenty of opinions so give 'em to me! Clean it up and drive it? Restore it? Slam a late model chassis under it?

While I'm no expert on power wagons by any stretch it appears to have an all original drive train. Its titled as a '49 but I have some suspicions about that, if I'm gonna rod it doesn't matter. Body has some rot, nothing serious, bed is reproduction thats tired, motor runs good, need a carb kit, gas tank shot, some brain surgeon put galvanized patches and a bucket of bondo in the front fenders. A prior owner put in new upholstery(go figure)paint is tired. Give it to me boys, I can take it!
