Joe will post nothing about donations to the forum if you ask him. It's good of him to recognize donors with a "wall of fame" mention, but if you don't want anything posted when you donate, just say so and nobody will know but him and you.

I have to agree that I was a bit stunned at what Ed posted, both because the guy who had the vehicles wasn't even necessarily interested in selling them, and because most guys, when they think they've found something great, go to just the opposite extreme, being afraid to let slip any hint about where it might be lest someone buy it out from under them. Still, it was an innocent mistake, with no harm intended, and I'll choose to believe that the jerks who wouldn't leave when asked had nothing to do with this forum.

You also make a good point about "junk" codes. The last thing I need on my place is some do-gooder poking around when I'm not there and then reporting what he finds to whatever sort of authorities he thinks he should report them to. It's not just "junk" vehicles. Somebody might find you're encroaching on a wetland, or you built a shed without a permit, or you're keeping chickens within the city limits, or your kids are running around barefoot, or who knows what else. I had a neighbor tell me she was going to call the FBI because I had a lot of mysterious looking (to her) stuff in my truck and she knew I went back and forth to Seattle a lot and "how do I know you're not planning to blow up SeaTac airport?" Apparently she thought my air compressor looked like a bomb. I'm sure the FBI thanked her for the tip and had their best agents on it right away.

Bottom line is nobody appreciates strangers poking around their property without permission.
