Hi Forest. The factory Monarch pump actually clamps to and sits on the trucks generator. The Monarch design used an additional pulley that clamped to the retainer nut on the stock generator pulley with set screws.

I have tried different ways of accomplishing this using cast or turned solid steel pulleys that can be bought online from McMaster-Carr and locally at bearing supply retailers. It needs to be slightly smaller in diameter than the generator pulley and will take a narrower A-size V-belt. I have tried drilling and tapping the purchased pulley and drilling clearance holes in the Auto-Lite generator pulley, then bolting both together with socket head cap screws. The heads of the screws locate on the generator side of the generator pulley. One has to bore a big enough hole in the purchased pulley to access the Auto-Lite pulley retainer nut with a 12-point socket. The purchased pulley needs to be sized correctly to nest comfortably inside the pressed flange around the front surface of the Auto-Lite generator pulley. The two pulleys must be concentric when assembled.

Another way I tried was to purchase a blank solid steel pulley without a center hole and machine an adapter for the pulley to bolt to. This adapter had internal threads that let it replace the retainer nut.

Both ways require a lot of trial and error and once you get something that works, it will not necessarily work on the next generator you might try it on. Parts differ just a little bet from truck to truck. Probably the best solution would be to find an old 6-volt Auto-Lite generator double pulley with two V-grooves. I looked but had no luck finding one.

The Pierce and King-Seeley mechanical engine governors are driven from the larger cast iron accessory pulley that mounts between the pressed steel water pump pulley and the radiator fan.

I used 2-inch angle with a thickness of about 1/4-inch for the bracing between the Good Roads pusher frame and the winch frame extensions.

Hope this helps.

Junior
