To follow up on Doug's comments below: the necessity of having bailing or hay wire onboard when chained up cannot be overstated. If a cross link breaks there is a very real possibility that it can take out a brake line.
Another point to consider is a refinement I saw on a set of single wheel chains on all four wheels of a PW in Revelstoke BC. The owner had installed cross links on every 2nd link on the circumferential chains as opposed to ever 4th link. This can be very helpful when stuck and attempting to rock the vehicle back and forth. With the cross links only on every 4th link the cross links ride up the tire opposite of that portion of tire that is in contact with the ground and at that point you do not have the benefit of the chains biting into the ground. With the cross links on every 2nd link of the circumferential chain that possibility does not exist. The downside is the chains are very heavy.
