I've done some stuff with my little Eastwood kit and it came out nice. The stuff is strong and durable but most hasn't been really tested yet.

However the professional stuff is different. I did the smaller parts of my transfer case but had the main body done by a shop since it was too big for my equipment. The coating on it is really heavy, much thicker than anything I can do at home.

The biggest advantage to powder is that since it's laid on electrically you can get it into areas you can't normally paint, like inside cavities. Basically if you can pump the powder into it the electrical charge will get it to stick. Then bake an you have a solid plastic shell.

Like other's have said though, it has to be perfect first. Since there's no zinc or chemicals in the powder there's no rust prevention there, so a pre-treatment is a good idea. You are basically laminating a part vice "painting".
