Some years ago a friend got me a set of 3-part strontium chromate epoxy primer that they use on the airplanes at the not-to-be-named airplane factory he works at near Seattle. I shudder to think what it probably cost. You mix it two parts of one component and one part of each of the two others. I thought it would be super good stuff, though it's really made for aluminum. It dries fast and hard, just like you would want, but everywhere that it's exposed to the sun it disintegrated and crumbled off within a couple of years. At some point I asked him about it and he said it has no UV resistance and has to be top-coated to withstand sunlight. So there you have it. I'm not sure if all epoxy primers are so vulnerable to UV or only the strontium chromate aircraft primer.
