One side I replaced the whole tail end, other side a rectangular patch. Plus the doubler, and setting red hot rivets with a mechanics air hammer. Acetylene torch needed for heating rivets. I got lucky and found the right air hammer 'punch' at a surplus store. Want to borrow them?

Get some "weld through primer" at the welding supply, and spray the inner sides of everything that gets closed up. The factory didn't, and look where you are now. It's a very soft primer, but made for use inside things that get hot. In this case the rivets would cook off a regular paint. I don't know if it actually works, but this is what it is sold for...
