NOS part scarcity?

I've owned a 1970 W300 for several months now, and in my efforts to get the truck on the road I've noticed that new factory parts are almost non-existant. Is there a particular reason why they're so hard to come by? My brother has a mid 60's International travelall that he can practically get anything he needs. Just curious. Thank you, Derek.
