Good Morning. I was recently cleaning out the glass bowl on my 50's fuel pump. As I dumped whatever residual gas out of the bowl, I noticed a small spherical disk fall out. After close inspection, and by happenstance, I realized that it was a small magnetic disk. I understand the dynamics behind why it is there, but my question is if this is a stock piece of equipment that comes with the fuel pump, or is it just from the previous owners attempt to harness any rust particles being sucked out of the tank? In addition, would this eventually prove harmful to the pump and carb over time? I have never seen this before. Thanks for any help on this.
