Thanks for taking the time to write. Actually I'm pretty astute with wiring diagrams having my Masters licenses in Heating and Plumbing.
If the ignition key is in the vertical position (off) and the points remain closed there should not be any power at the points, correct?
I do know this truck was converted to a 12 V system and the previous owner installed a disconnect sw under the drivers side front fender. With the disconnect sw in the off position the battery will not drain and the points are not hot.
The disconnect is breaking the circuits path to ground.
