We service our fire engine brakes every winter when we close fire season and bring in all our equipment for winter maintenance. If they need to be replaced we do so, and from doing those, compared to what Vaughn and I did when we got my brakes in service on my 48 PW, air brakes are alot easier to work on. As stated in other responses, they are pretty basic. "S" cam brakes are what all of our engines and dozer transports are, in one day we can usually do the entire engine and start another, or do the entire dozer transport, tractor and trailer.
