Rubber ones anyway. I don't think I ever needed a special seal for a spedi-sleeve. Else how would you know, when it needed replacement?

Sleeves are only .010 or so thick, the rubber seals can handle a range of about .060, plus and minus. And I am not a big fan of leather seals. They are highly abrasive, and are the cause of the grooves any how.

Will, I would loosen up the pinion nut and try it, in the chance that whoever set up the rear end might have used a 'crush sleeve', and that the tight nut is loading the bearings mightily.

If that is not the prob, drive it a while and see if it loosens up. You ought to be able to feel with the wheels chocked and in neutral, no brake set. Try turning the drive shaft, see if it gets easier.
