one reason the HP was lower was the fuel in those days was very low quality. 70 octane or so, comparession ratios gradually rose as the fuel gradually got better. so you coudl easily up the HP jsut by regrinding the cam to a modern suitable profile for todays fuel and shave .075 off the ehad and with the new fuel creatting much more power the HP would probably rise up to 150 plus
