Tech is good to some degree. However, the more simple it is the better chance it will survive. You also need good materials in things for it to survive. Both of these key factors seem to be missing in most things today. Today's mantra seems to be Bling it and make it as cheap as we can so we can sell more.

Contrary to this some things seem to be better today. I feel that many engines in cars are much more dependable. Go to your library and look at some of the old Popular Science and auto rags. I did and was floored when one article said that in their long term test of the Nova they had to rebuild the front end and ball joints. I can not remember the miles but it was pretty low. They considered it typical and nothing out of the ordinary.
