I'm pretty sure when the Dodge engineers visited Sweden in the late 1940's, they gave Volvo their stamping die's for their old sedans to use for the sugga.
The 1936 Plymouth sedan, and the 1950s Volvo sugga's have very similar lines and shapes of windows/doors/etc.
