Duane,
With Maryland, I discovered I was basically against a brick wall at the DMV with trying to get a new title without an old one. The only remedy they told me about would have been to hire a lawyer to help me go before a state judge, and even then it was not clear what would happen. The process would have been expensive and a big hassle. Perhaps Indiana has a similar statute.
Broadway saved my bacon.
Of course now I make having a clear title a high priority with any older vehicle purchase. But if a great deal fell in my lap, I would not hesitate to use Broadway again if I lived in a state where it was "kosher" to do this, and as I said Broadway lists up front which states they can do this legally, and for what vehicles. For right now, civvies are still o.k. for 41 states.
