Copey,

That is a great story.
It reminds me of a similar one, reported in his autobiography by General Chuck Yeager, the decorated WW2 U.S. Army Air Corps pilot as well as the 1st man to break the sound barrier.

A very interesting book. Among many experiences, he was a "mustang" who rose up through the ranks from enlisted to general, and who also had been shot down in combat in Europe and escaped over the mountains to Spain, etc.

He grew up in the mountains of West Virginia and was a country boy, hunting and fishing all his life. His wife to be was a city girl from Los Angeles. When he took her back home the first time to meet the family back up in the mountain "hollow", they rolled up to the house and apparently the family was in the middle of hog killing time with hogs strung up and gutted in the trees beside the house, as well as the tub of boiling water, etc. All the people were in bib overalls and looked very "country".

Apparently the look on his wife-to-be's face when she saw this production was priceless. Nevertheless they married and as the story goes lived happily ever after.
