Need Advice on Re-installing a Differential

I'm trying to re-install a front differential in the axle housing of my '48 FFPW. I'm having trouble getting it back in. The weight of the differential just seems to make it too difficult to get it lined up.

I've tried a floor jack with a transmission adapter and had someone help as we tried to muscle the differential in place from a bench placed under the housing.

The truck is on a hoist, so we have some room to work. Does someone have any tricks for getting the differential back in, or should I just get a purpose built transmission jack with better positioning adjustments?

I'm wondering if removing the two bottom studs and replacing them with long studs will help. How difficult is it to get the studs out with a stud removal tool?
