I don't think it will hurt either. As I said, I run the fans in my sno-cats at around 8 volts. Consider it an upgrade. If you want a slow-speed mode you can replace the toggle switch with a double-throw toggle switch and wire an ignition ballast resistor in series with one position. "Off" will be the middle position, but that's easy to get used to. You can get into all kinds of fancy calculations and buying this and that, but sometimes it's better to just try what's easy and see if it works.
