You might check with the compass calibration guy at Captain's Nautical Supply in Seattle. I believe his name is David. Asian guy, works upstairs. Number is (800)448-2278. Don't know if they do aircraft compasses but he might know what kind of fluid they use in them. Dot 5 has that purple dye in it, and I wonder if it might eventually turn the numbers purple.
