Not having the picture to look at I'm winging it on the descriptions given by the others that have seen them. It sounds like two M37 trucks I saw with Nissan diesel engines and fiberglass tilt front ends and tops being used by a construction company. I have also seen 6x6 water tankers out there with the same set up so it appears at one time someone was doing conversion to old mil stuff for the construction trades. The fiberglass front looks close to the M37 metal but is not quite the same.

During the Vietnam war Toyota, Nissan, and Isuzu all made 3/4 ton and 2 1/2 ton trucks that look similar to our stuff and were used in country. The easiest way to identify one of these if you are not sure is the hood side covers, they have a curved area that is open where ours don't.
