Got a BIG Problem...Bellhousing broken!!!

I was changing the starter on my 75 W200{360/727AT} earlier when I ran into a big problem.As I was loosening the top bolt on the old starter,the bellhousing where the starter bolts on at the top came right off w/the starter.It broke about 2/3 of the way down the top bolt hole.I didn't force it or anything it must have already been fractured.Does this mean I have to get a new tranny or were they cast in 2 pieces?I'm gonna try some JB weld for a temp fix so I can at least move it.If anyone has any suggestions or knowledge on this PLEASE help.Thanks.
