Have you tried all you can to get Chrysler to pay for at least part of the replacement? The transmission went out on my Dakota with 58,000 miles. It was out of warranty. I made one phone call to Chrysler and they agreed to pay for half of parts and labor. They even called the dealership and set it up. It still cost me $1000 but that beats $2000.
