I am having 16X10" radial rims made for a '47 PW. I will be putting 36X12.50 Super Swamper TSL tires on. I can have the backspacing anywhere I want but I am having trouble decideding where would be the best fit. Another local owner has this same setup with a 5" 50/50 backspacing, his tires then stick out about 2 inches outside the wheel wells. He likes the added stability and it gives him about a 7 foot stance or more. I tried on one of his old wheel/tire stup, the only difference being that they were a 8" rim with 6 inch offset. These fit perfectly inside th rim with the tread face being very close to the edge but not close enough to hit when articulating. I was thinking of staying inside the wheel wells. To accomplish this with a 10" rim does this mean I should have a 7" offset or an 8"? By a 7" I thought that since the tire was bulging out more on that 8" that maybe the extra wheel would just fill that out an inch on each side allowing me a 7" offset within the wheel wells. Is this idea correct or do I need a full 8 inches?

Some others are telling me just to go with the 5 inch offset and let my tires stick out. I don't know if there would be a problem with hitting that lip on the rear wheel wells or if I should do this for the stability.
I will be using this truck in snow and mud and some rock. I want to make the truck as usefull as possible while maintainting the integrity.
ANy advice would be greatly appreciated as this is a very expensive and permanent setup and I want it to be right.
Thanks in advance
Drew
