It's an adjustable seat collapse rate damper.
No joke! It traps air so the seat sinks slower when you hit big bumps. Of course any mouse holes will alter the performance of this nifty feature.
Despite the fact that I can't notice any difference open or closed, you can be proud that your truck has the "deluxe" cab.
