If they're not too bad, you can probably clean them up with a thread file, just be careful no to make it worse. Most industrial supply places and good hardware stores have them. MSC also sells a little gizmo with 2 scrapers that's supposed to clean up any size threads. And yes, they have left-hand dies if it comes to that.
