Dana;

May I suggest some sound deadening/insulation in the roof. I used 1.0" foam board insulation glued to the steel roof. The carpet is glued using indoor/outdoor carpet
glue. I dont have the can for the name any longer, but got it at the local lumber yard. Its a tan stickum, and as the can states, it has a great initial grab. I did not trowel it on with a notch trowel. I used a wide blade putty knife and applied it very generous. I wanted a 100% absolute bond. I made a basic template for the roof and then cut the carpet oversize.

I only glued 1/2 of the cab (fore/aft), put the carpet in place and with lots of props and scrap plywood held the glued half up tight overnight. By morning it was set and I did the other side. When that was set, I used a carpet knife, and changed the blades often for a real neat cut. With the proper cuts and tucks the carpet laid right against the foam board with no wrinkles. It the same as cutting carpet in on the floor, only your working upside down. Go slow and you will have a really nice headliner. I also did the floor and kick panels on the doors with the same carpet. I got my carpet at Lowes, as I remember it only cost like 50 bucks to carpet the entire cab. It really did quiet it down.

I also have 3 layers of Peel N Seal on the floor/firewall as a Loaded Mass Sound Barrier. Peel N Seal can be bought at Lowes in 25 foot rolls x 8 inches wide. Its got a sticky back and lay it on a smooth surface its there for the count. Between the Peel N Seal, foam board and carpet, the engine noise was brought under total control. You can enjoy CD's

Email me if you have any questions.

Paul
