i found the the conversion form axe to a maul was a step up ! i use a 4 pound sledge and a wedge on big stuff . i found by the time i hefted the block on the "ways" of the splitter I could have just flipped up the chunk on end and hit three pieces off . i used to split 24 cords by hand i would work all day split three pieces off stack three get up good rhythm and in january and febuary you could do it wearing a light shirt . section of the trees your cutting makes the difference and makes it easy .monster blocks i ripp into man size bites with the chainsaw ~ Copey
