Brazing is a little easier than welding and re-drilling. I have a vague recollection of doing it to some hinge once, and it worked. With brazing, you're not risking melting the hinge itself. The trick would be to get it good and clean down in the hole, which probably means drilling it out larger or pickling it in acid. At that point, lay it down flat, put some flux in it, heat it orange-hot (an air-acetylene torch like refrigeration guys use would work) and put enough brazing in there to take up the slop, then when it's cool drill it to size. Since the brazing is only on the sides of the hole rather than filling the whole hole like welding would, aligning the drill is not so critical. The drill will tend to find its center since it will drill more of the softer brass than the steel. It would clearly wear out faster than steel, but brazing alloy is harder than you'd think. Moreover, remember that it took 50 years of neglect with the truck being rode hard and put away wet, with nothing to lubricate the hinge pins but rusty rain water, for your old ones to wear out. Now that you're restoring it, the hinges will get a drop of oil from time to time and the truck will be kept out of the weather, and if they do wear out 50 years from now, nobody is going to complain.
