I have never heard of a natural deposit of hydrogen (until now). I doubt there could be such a thing because hydrogen is not only very light, but the molecules are very small and will seep through pretty much everything, including rock, if given enough time. Your parents' land may well be atop a natural gas deposit, but hydrogen seems pretty unlikely. In any case, natural gas is a way better fuel than hydrogen. It's easier to store, and contains more power since it's a combination of carbon and hydrogen, and burning carbon gives you more energy than burning hydrogen.
