Paul,
The people I used to work for bought 3 Cummins diesel Dodges when they first came out. 2 were spray rigs and the other was a parts chaser/farm truck.

I was driving the parts chaser one day and approached a stop sign and hit the pedal and it went to the floor and NO brakes at all. It was a T intersection in the country and I missed the sign driving into a field. No damage to the truck and thankfully no one was coming either direction. NO blown lines or visible problems.

Told the owners and they were understandably skeptical. 3 months later it happened again and I was ready as I pulled the emergency. Same thing with no visible flaws, told them again.

1 week later it happened to them and they finally believed me and took it to the dealer. Naturally it had to happen to the dealer while driving before believing(still under warranty) and it didn't, so they said it was fine. Happened one more time to owners before they traded it. The other 2 trucks never did it.

What was odd was on the second time for me the pedal went straight to the floor and pumping made no diffence. It finally slammed the pedal back with a lot of force but still had no brakes at that point. I'm assuming somthing was messed up in the ABS. Computers ;(

The thing to take away from this for others is to remember you DO HAVE an emergency brake. Use it in a panic situation like this. This was and empty truck and I SURE wouldn't want to deal with this when heavy loads are aboard/behind.
