I've got one similar to Marty's link, only Black & Decker, circa 1950s. It'll go through 14ga steel like a pair of scissors cutting paper. I paid $40 ten years ago, wasn't too sure it was a good deal. But lately looked at a Dewalt like it, $500 list.

Only problem is that it is so aggressive, it's hard to keep straight. So just lately bought a Chinese copy of a Beverly bench shear. $99 at harbor freight. Had to take it apart, weld up the main pivot bolt hole, and re-drill it a half a hole higher, to get good geometry. Now it cuts without rolling the off-cut into tight spirals.
